As a working mother myself I appreciate that time is precious, and ‘me time’ can be a fleeting opportunity so I strive to make your time here as right for you as possible. The tranquil peaceful location nestled away on Bodmin Moor will take you away from home life stresses and distractions allowing you to truly relax and re energise. The treatment room itself, a converted medieval barn is both characterful and calm, under floor heating, warm fluffy towels, gentle music and carefully chosen aromatherapy oils take all the best bits of a spa, but without compromising good solid body work. This holistic approach to wellness, takes into account the physical requirements as well as the aesthetic needs of you as a client. Following is a list of treatments available but I generally advise booking a time frame, anything from 60 minutes to 2 hours and then we can work out what treatment or combination of treatments works best for you, any questions you may have please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Part of the holistic approach to all my treatments requires me to have a consultation with you to establish your needs and requirements, this can take up to half an hour in the first instance, is free of charge, but should be taken into consideration when booking your time slot!
Holistic means 'whole' this form of massage deals with you as a 'whole person'. Whole body and mind it is not just about treating the symptoms, but establishing the cause, whether it be internal or external. The aim is to rebalance the body so it achieves wellness and balance.
Massage benefits both mind and body. It is rare that we have the time to lie down, close our eyes and just be.
Holistic massage helps taut tight muscles relax and combined with strokes to aid lymphatic drainage, helps to release toxins. The benefits can be felt by all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles. Stiffness and soreness in the body can be due to a wide range of physical and emotional factors from an overly energetic session in the gym or carrying a heavy toddler, to poor posture through being seated at a desk all day or excessive driving. Late night lambing, or a fall from your horse. Emotional tension and the day to day stresses play a big part too, headaches and migraines caused by a stiff neck and shoulders, digestive problems, migraine, low immunity, chronic fatigue and even depression can be helped by holistic massage. Allow the body and mind the space and time to relax and rebalance.
Reflexology is a holistic non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.
Reflexology is a therapy which can be received by anyone at any age, from newborn babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between
Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing.
The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. After a treatment you will feel relaxed and balanced, you might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of wellbeing improving.
With ever increasing levels of stress in everyday life, it is important for people to take more responsibility for their own healthcare needs. As a one off treatment reflexology can be relaxing and balancing, but does work best taken as a regular session, once a month, or every 2 months, whatever works for you, a regular session may be one of the ways to mitigate the stresses of modern life.
I have packages available to suit all budgets and requirements.
As a woman I was initially attracted to learn this technique for pure vanity reasons, and have found that it is a wonderful anti-aging treatment. Facial massage is part of the ancient teachings of both India and Japan, and has been refined for the West over time. In the East, beauty is considered equal to optimum state of health. Even the most attractively shaped face cannot be beautiful if the person is not well, as health and beauty are not separate. When a person glows with the radiance of true health, nothing else is necessary for genuine beauty.
The intention of facial rejuvenation massage is to help prolong this natural, true health and beauty and to prevent disease. Helping to shift unwanted fluid and increase circulation. Facial rejuvenation massage can improve the complexion, removing toxins from the face, preventing facial wrinkles and balancing the emotions. Facial Rejuvenation massage leaves the skin feeling invigorated, lifted and supple.
Excellent for those who carry all their desk or driving stress in their upper body, tension feels as though it is lifted from the scalp, the muscles around the face and neck are extremely sensitive and hold a lot of tension through the protection of the neck. Most people are very surprised to feel that they have so much tension in their jaws and face, a great deal of sensation is carried through the face. The relaxant effect of massage on our necks and face is disproportionately good!
A wonderfully relaxing mind and body treatment performed on the head neck and shoulders, ideal for clients not wishing to undress, an hour spent having a facial rejuvenation massage is pure heaven, and a lot less expensive than surgical procedures!
As well as working with babies I offer massage and reflexology to older children, who I have found hugely receptive. I infuse all my work with reiki which is a wonderfully calming and restorative energy therapy which children adore, it brings them a deep sense of peace and balance. Usually I work with children aged from age 8 upwards. All sessions are with a parent or guardian present. The actual treatment will be for 30 minutes. I will also include some advice on regular self-care and strategies to support the work I do.
To keep this therapy as accessible as possible I only charge £20 per session, and if regular treatments are indicated we can come to a regular arrangement.
I have found reflexology to be a wonderful treatment for children who are suffering from anxiety, great for settling into new schools and exam stress. It is also wonderful for helping to rebalance hormonal concerns, so great around puberty. It may help with eczema and psoriasis if it is triggered by stress, and also very effective at helping sleeping problems. Children, much like adults can get caught up in a spiral of stress and anxiety, reflexology is a soothing and balancing treatment allowing the body to get back into its natural state of balance, therefore allowing its own self-healing to begin.
I can offer massage to children who have physical tension due to spinal abnormalities, or hip problems. In such instances massage is used as a way to soothe tension, it is not corrective in any way and works alongside conventional treatment. If a child is undergoing medical treatment sometimes touch can become quite medicalised, so to reintroduce touch as therapeutic and soothing is a wonderful thing. Massage can only be given and received if the child is happy to relax and receive the treatment. If you know your child already enjoys massage then it may be indicated, but if your child finds it hard to settle then reflexology may be the better therapy.
